Senior Director of Engineering

The Senior Director of Engineering, is a creative leader of a multi-disciplinary team working on designing, implementing and delivering our systems and solutions. This position will be based at our Jacksonville, FL headquarters. This role includes engineered systems and technologies development in addition to ensuring the success of the product life cycle from concept to production release. The successful, self-motivated candidate will have experience in managing engineering teams, designing circuits, optimal component selection and sourcing, troubleshooting and comprehensive project engineering and construction support activities as normally required pursuant to the position.

  • Develops and directs design standards, procedures and methods to ensure quality engineering standards are met and maintained
  • Direct and manage assigned full scale engineering project plans and project lifecycles from the design phase to field deployment, including post installation, service, and technical support in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Provides engineering expertise in the areas of technology product/system development, drafting, documentation, design engineering, electrical and mechanical engineering, and maintenance
  • Manages and builds current bill of materials (BOM)
  • Recommends methods, materials and layouts for improvement based upon needs and capabilities
  • Conduct engineering analysis’, gather field data, designing, reviewing development of our designs and delivering technical presentations both internally and externally
  • Prepare and supervise the preparation of detailed engineering designs, drawings, specifications, cost estimates and quantity estimates for product/system development
  • Develop Statements of Work (SOW) for sub-contractors and vendors
  • Review contractor’s submittals and work products to ensure compliance with required scope of work and deliverables
  • Ensure thorough, timely, and efficient documentation of processes, while ensuring all company field procedures and protocols are observed
  • Cooperate with technical team and share information across the organization
  • Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations/briefings
  • Clearly communicate expectations to team members and stakeholders
  • All other duties as assigned


  • High level of enthusiasm, strong integrity, and excellent organizational and communications skills
  • Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering degree
  • Seven (7) + years’ experience in related engineering and/or information technologies field with management experience
  • An emphasis on candidates with Electrical Field Engineering, Field Deployments, Electrical Field Systems, Project Deployments, and similar field experience
  • Extensive electrical and/or electronics engineering hand-on experience
  • Experience with lighting systems, power systems, low voltage system design, digital I/O, machine/vision system technology, or video surveillance/video analytics
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to changing work schedules
  • Travel, as appropriate and necessary, to support projects and product development efforts
  • Solid understanding of infrastructure and IT technologies
  • Familiarity with commonly used tools and engineering applications
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from senior management and other departments
  • Experience with rail technologies or operations would be a significant plus
