Virtual Security Shield (vss™)

While most airports have upgraded their physical and virtual security systems along perimeters facing public traffic lanes, few have been able to effectively secure the inbound threat from remote perimeters along runways and taxiways. Threats propagating from these areas represent the single most underestimated vulnerability to Air Operations Areas (AOA). Even the latest technologies providing sophisticated virtual fence systems deploy only a single layer of protection, are limited in early detection facility, and cannot distinguish between friend and foe.

To address this vulnerablility, Duos created the vss™ System. The vss™ System provides an enhanced, effective area coverage system capable of (1) early AOA-wide threat detection, (2) early threat classification, (3) remote AOA-wide traffic verification, (4) remote AOA-wide personnel authentication, (5) real-time AOA-wide vehicle and personnel tracking, and (6) prevention of unauthorized use or highjacking of vehicles. This is accomplished through a multi-layered security application for early detection, classification, electronic and visual verification of any moving object entering the AOA. The system also provides active RFID tagging for vehicles and airport personnel, and as such will automatically track and classify them as friend or foe. A powerful operator interface fuses inputs to compare, layer and analyze data to provide a robust early warning and defense system against intrusions, creating a tight virtual security shield covering the entire AOA. All event data and imagery is archived and organized in an intuitively accessible database for forensics and post-event analysis.
