Plant Security
Prior to the formation of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS),
responsibility for the nation’s critical infrastructure was scattered over a patchwork of
various federal agencies. The DHS is now responsible for coordinating government efforts
to protect all sectors of the nation’s critical infrastructure, including manufacturing plants.
Within the DHS, the Information Analysis and Infrastructure Protection Directorate is focused
on securing key resource sectors. This department develops and coordinates plans to aggressively
reduce our vulnerability to acts of terrorism.
