Border Security

The United States shares land borders with Canada to the north and Mexico to the south, and territorial water boundaries with Canada, Russia, the Bahamas, and numerous smaller nations. It is otherwise bounded by the Pacific Ocean on the west, the Atlantic Ocean on the east, and the Gulf of Mexico to the southeast.

Canada and the United States share the world's longest undefended border. Running along the 49th parallel from the west coast to Lake Superior and following natural boundaries to the Atlantic Ocean, the northern border's total length is 3145 miles (5,060 km).

The border between Mexico and the United States runs from San Diego, California in the west to Brownsville, Texas in the east. The southern border's total length is 1,951 miles (3,141 km). A large percentage of the southern border is left unguarded, except by a small number of U.S. federal government patrolling agents. This is the most frequently crossed international border in the world, with some 350 million people crossing legally every year, and an estimated 1,000 to 4,000 illegal crossings each day.

One of the United State’s top priorities is to keep terrorists and terrorist weapons from entering the U.S. To this end, United States Customs and Border Protection officers and agents enforce all applicable U.S. laws. But candidly, our southern border remains a leaking sieve. The Secure Border Initiative (SBI) is a comprehensive multi-year plan intended to address this issue by securing America’s borders and reducing illegal migration. Under SBI, the goal is to have operational control of both the northern and southern borders within five years. Among other upgrades, the DHS intends to integrate multiple state of the art systems and sensor arrays into a single comprehensive detection suite. At Duos, we believe our ability to provide applied intelligence to a myriad of technical systems will materially aid the United States in achieving this important objective.

Some of the critical border security solutions provided by Duos Technologies:

    • Train Rider Inspection System (TRiDS™) - fuses thermal and visible video feeds, probabilistic templates and electronic container RFID tag monitoring to detect unauthorized riders aboard a freight train moving at speeds of up to 70mph.
    • Linear Panorama Generator (LPG) - gets the “whole picture”, by combining images to create panoramas.
    • rvspro digital video server - records, archives, and enables the viewing of live, streaming video to detect threat and significantly decrease vulnerability within the hospital and surrounding areas.
    • Praesidium® sensor detection suite - high level artificial intelligence solution driving rvspro™ security and surveillance applications.
    • 3D Immersive Surveillance (3D-IS) - real-time immersive visualization system moves you backward, forward, or jumps to any recorded moment in time.
    • Remote 2 Praesidium (R2P) - web-based thin client to access and control Praesidium® components and sensors.
